9Health Fair
The 9Health Fair recently held at the Oshkosh Elementary School was a great success! There were a total of 273 people who participated in the March blood draw and the 9Health Fair events. Ages of participants ranged from 30 years to 80 years old. In addition to the medical screenings, the National Guard hosted a boot camp challenge which allowed participants to find out how fit they are. This challenge brought an inflatable obstacle course that took over the front area of the elementary school. Although only 20 people (mostly kids!), challenged themselves…most of the individuals did it more than once! There were also a lot of spectators watching the challenges and even a few races!
We had a number of volunteers that helped facilitate, organize, set up/clean up, and provide refreshments for this event. We thank them all!
Health promotion, education, and access to screenings are our goals for this event. Information gathered from this year’s fair shows that the issues requiring further evaluation facing our county include height/weight issues and bone health. If you would like more information about either of these topics, please contact Garden County Health Services or Volunteers of America – Western Nebraska!
